BALLARD, WV – Tommy Jack Belcher, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, with his family by his side at Princeton Community Hospital after a long illness.

He was born August 10, 1941, to the late Benno B. Belcher and Alta Mae (Bower) Belcher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Hubert Belcher and Billy Joe Belcher; and one sister, Iris Jean (Belcher) Gill.

He graduated from Greenville High School in West Virginia in 1959 and married the love of his life, Mary Alice Belcher (Long) in 1963. From there, he went on to work in the tile, terrazzo, and marble field. He enjoyed coaching 10-12 year old Woodbridge Little league Baseball and did so for three years. He also coached the All-Star team and took them to Bristol, Virginia. He was employed by Boatman and Magnani tile company in Capitol Heights, Maryland. After working 40 years in the tile, terrazzo, and marble profession, he retired to enjoy his family and friends. His favorite thing to do was fish, and enjoyed doing so with his family, whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Alice Belcher; one daughter, Penny Sue Haag and husband, Armin; two sons Tommy Jack Belcher, Jr., and wife Georgiana, and Steven Dean Belcher; six grandchildren, Kristina Marie Marshburn and husband Wesley, Mandy Lynn Harrison and husband Allen, Elijah Millard and wife Vi, Tommy Jack Belcher, III and wife Tyler, Katlynn Ann Jones and husband Ethan, Adam Carlos Belcher and wife Shannon; eight great-grandchildren, Abigail, Noah, and Benaiah Marshburn, Hunter Haag, Ellinor and Josey Jones, Tommy Belcher IV, and Vivia Millard; One sister Susan Joanne and husband Graham Rogers.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be sent to Red Sulphur Community Church for cemetery maintenance (Attn: Pat Boone, 452 Indian Creek Road, Ballard, WV 24918).

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Broyles Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Robert Baer officiating. Burial will follow at the Red Sulphur Springs Community Church Cemetery in Red Sulphur Springs, WV. Visitation will be from 1:00PM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
