Every apprentice is required to complete health and safety training courses as part of their apprenticeship. These courses are designed to ensure that apprentices not only protect themselves but also contribute to the safety of their colleagues on the job. At BAC Local 1, prioritizing safety is crucial so that members can return home safely to their families.
The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee is dedicated to safeguarding apprentices from both minor and severe injuries. Our comprehensive classes and training programs cover a range of safety topics, including:
- Fabricated Frame
- Scaffold Training Awareness (Supported, Suspended and Mast Climbers)
- Silica in Construction
- Ergonomics
- Fall Protection Safety
- Hazardous Communication (GHS)
- Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid
- Lift Truck/Fork Lift Training Awareness
- MSHA – New Miner Safety (24hrs New Miner, 8hrs refresher)
- Rigging and Signaling
- OSHA 10 or 30 hour – 1926 Construction and 1910 General Industry
- Rigging and Signaling

- Fall Protection Competent Person Training (Geared towards foremen)
- ATSSA Flagger/Traffic Control
