President

Scott Garvin, President of BAC Local 1, began working with the union in September 1997.

A member of the Baltimore Chapter, his trade experience includes brick, stone, refractory, welding, and more.

In 2009, he became a field representative in Baltimore and was elected President of the Local in September 2010.

As President, Garvin oversees the daily operations of the local union, which include collective bargaining, union organizing, and more, in support of the union’s overall mission: to promote fair wages and a safe environment for members.

He also serves as Chair of the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, which develops the standards, curriculum, and implementation of most training for local members.

In addition to serving as President, Garvin is also the Regional Vice President of the Northeast Region of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Treasurer of the Baltimore-DC Metropolitan Building and Construction Trades Council, and Chair of all Local 1 pension/annuity and health funds.
