Our Trades

Trades offered by BAC Local 1 of MVD:

 

Bricklaying
Bricklaying involves laying bricks and other masonry units to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, and other structures. Bricklayers use mortar to bond the bricks and ensure strength and alignment.

Caulking
Caulking involves sealing joints or seams in masonry structures to prevent water, air, dust, or insects from entering. It is essential for maintaining the integrity and energy efficiency of buildings.

Refractory
Refractory masonry focuses on installing heat-resistant materials such as firebrick and castables in high-temperature environments like furnaces, kilns, and fireplaces. This trade requires knowledge of materials that can withstand extreme heat.

Restoration
Masonry restoration involves repairing, cleaning, and preserving historical or deteriorated masonry structures. This includes techniques like tuckpointing, replacing damaged bricks or stones, and matching original materials and workmanship.

Stone
Stone masonry involves cutting, shaping, and laying natural or manufactured stone to build walls, veneers, facades, and other structural or decorative features. Stone masons work with materials like granite, marble, limestone, and sandstone.

Terrazzo
Terrazzo workers create decorative flooring and surfaces by embedding marble, quartz, glass, or other aggregates in a cement or epoxy binder, then grinding and polishing it to a smooth finish. This trade combines artistic design with durable construction.

Tile Installation
Tile installers lay ceramic, porcelain, glass, or stone tiles on walls, floors, and other surfaces. This trade requires precision in cutting and placing tiles, as well as knowledge of adhesives, grout, and surface preparation.
